It is the third month of the Islamic calendar. The Holy Prophet was born on the 12th of this month as mercy for all and departed from this world 63 years later on the same day. The day of the birth anniversary or Mauwlad of the Prophet is commemorated around the world with religious processions on this day. The month of Rabi-ul-Awal is not exceptional for being the month of birth of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ, but it is the month in which our Holy Prophet ﷺ began his journey of Hijrah and built the first Mosque of Islam, Masjid-e-Quba. Rabi-ul-Awal is also significant, as the first Jummah prayer was established in this month. Naat Khani (poetry in praises of the Prophet ﷺ) is performed the whole month in the Dargah compound with religious assemblies (Mehfils), where religious prayers (fateha) are offered. Lungur (food) and charities in the name of the prophets ﷺ are performed in this month.
