Laylat Al Bara’at - The three holy nights of Islam
The night of Bera'at, is in the middle of Sha'ban and marks the beginning of the revelation of the Holy Qur'an. Bara’at means emancipation or setting free; this is a night on which a divine calling will echo until the break of dawn. It is during this great month that Allah Almighty takes the account of His creation.
This month should not go unnoticed. The Holy Prophet would fast most of this month and after sunset on Laylat al-Bara’at. If there is anyone who seeks forgiveness or if there is anyone who is in need or if there is anyone in pain and seeks help the time between sunset and sunrise on the Night of the Emancipation is recommended to ask for forgiveness; provision; healing and help.
Shaikh Abdul-Kerim Effendi has said, “When the days are approaching for the night of Berat (night of calculations, accounting night) spend that night in worshiping to your Lord and spend the day in fasting. Then you will find Allah (subhana wa Ta’aalaa) forgiving you and forgiving your sins.”
